CoolSculpt 2009 Rules & Regulations
Design Criteria:
- Design a sculpture utilizing the 8'x 8' x 8' cube of snow. Completed work may not exceed these dimensions by more than 3 feet in vertical direction. In other words, you may go up 3 feet maximum and laterally you must stay in the 8' x 8' surface square. This is due to some sculpting locations have "snowmelt" in the pavement.
- Snow coloring, any artifice, attachment, or structural reinforcement is prohibited. Sculptures must consist of snow only. Other water forms are acceptable, if they significantly contribute to the work. Judges will evaluate these additions during the final judging, and may find that they detract from the overall work.
- No additional lighting is allowed on the site.
- Address and complete all sides of the snow sculpture.
Restrictions:
1. The sculpture must not represent a commercial product or incorporate a commercial logo, nor can it reproduce the name of any organization or its logo.
2. The sculpture shall not express political views, bigotry, or sexual content.
3. 3. Teams must provider their own tools. Electricity and water will not be provided.
4. Alcoholic beverages and/or controlled substances are prohibited.
5. Teams must move excess snow to designated area.
6. There is no automobile access to the individual sites.
Judging:
1. Judging time and date To Be Announced.
2. All decisions by the judges are final.
3. Teams must follow the above contest rules as outlined in order for the sculpture to quality for final judging.
4. Judges may consider the following:
a. Originality, creativity and clarity of concept as expressed by the final sculpture.
b. Technical excellence, as it pertains to the medium of snow, and the particular snow conditions.
c. Relationship of the work, both physical and conceptual, to the space it occupies and the public viewers.
d. Success of the artists in bringing the original concept to reality in the sculpture. Including: clear expression of the original concept, adjustments for the snow and weather conditions, location of site, reality of snow sculpting within a restricted timeframe, etc.
General Rules and Other Information:
1. Contestants participate at their own risk.
2. The name of the registered group and the title of its sculpture will be posted on the only authorized sign in front of each sculpture. Signage will be provided and will be displayed prior to sculpting.
3. Telluride's Mountain Village and Mountain Video Productions, LLC will not be responsible for any personal injury or loss of or damage to any personal property.
4. Telluride's Mountain Village and Mountain Video Productions, LLC reserve the right to acquire all visual documentation (including photos) and to use the documentation for promotional and informational purposes without indemnity to the participants.
