SculptFest 2007 - Prizes !!!!!!!!!!!

As our cache of SculptFest 2007 Prizes builds, we will be bringing you the updated list. Meanwhile...take a look at what our SculptFest 2006 Winners went home with!

American National Bank with Beth Ballis and Ted Moews sculpting their wonder in snow named "The Ice Queen" at the top of the Meadows lift in the Mountain Village's Town Plaza. This sculpture impressed the judges by displaying a grand scale of a decorated Ice Queen on her chariot, with the details of individual incisor teeth placed in the team of polar bear pulling the chariot. In addition the face of the Queen is really well done. Thanks again to American National Bank for sponsoring a sculpture and winning the top prize 2 years in a row. Come see it at the top of the Chondolla in the Plaza near where the summer Sunset Concert series plays.

Second Place with $500 and 4 lift tickets and a night at Inn at Lost Creek
The Town of Mountain Village with the Mountain Schools middle school/high school art classes sculpting a Lions Head. Seeing this on the snow in front of chair 4's lift line, a lion with a 5 foot tongue hanging out really is cool, come on over and get a closer look. Craig Wasserman, the schools art teacher, subtly guided his approximately 20 students in their creation and developed a style in the snow that uses shadows to enhance the feeling of depth in their creation.

Third Place with $350 and 3 lift tickets
Boot Doctor had last years winning sculptor, Duncan Mackenzie, creating an evolving and interactive sculpture, "The Magic Lizard Castle". This sculpture is located near the Beach at the bottom of chair 4. Duncan used his exceptional stone laying and outdoor space design skills to create an event in the snow. This winding igloo, snow caslte is great for the family to check out really highlights the amazing ways an 8x8x8 foot cube can be cut apart, reassembled and also reductive sculpted. Congratulations Boot Doctor and Duncan.

Four Place with $150 and 2 lift tickets
Richard Arnold sculpted for Telski's sponsorship and created a very fun looking cross skiing troll. It is also located near the Beach at the bottom of chair 4. The troll includes the use of frozen dog dish ice for the eyes and Richard had some help from some true Scandinavian influence including Ivar Eidsmo and his visiting niece, Maya from Norway. Thanks to Richard for being a returning sculptor and being so great with all the guests asking questions.

Thanks to Tracks Café and Bar for the Après ski awards presentation that was held at 3:30 PM in the Mountain Village core.

Thank You,
